You can have uterine fibroids without any symptoms. Among women who do have symptoms, the most common ones are:
Heavy menstrual bleeding.
Periods lasting over seven days.
Constipation.
Backache, leg pains.
Pelvic pressure, pain.
Frequent urination.
Difficulty emptying bladder.
There are many treatment options for uterine fibroids. If you have symptoms, talk with Dr. Miller about options for symptom relief. If you have only mildly annoying symptoms that you can live with, watchful waiting could be your best option. More serious symptoms can be treated with medications and/or surgery.
Uterine fibroids are not cancerous, but they may interfere with pregnancy, depending on their location. Increase in size is of concern and should be followed with ultrasound.
